Why weighted eye pillows?

We all love an eye pillow in meditation and how without the light we can drift off into that calm world so much easier, but there is a whole science behind those little eye pillows that we use every class.

These little masks that we pop over our eyes filled with Flaxseed and lavender flowers infused with Rose Essential oil and Rose Geranium help to sneaky regulate our nervous system and that tricky little thing called the Vagus Nerve.


A study was carried out in 2018, by the NCBI (national centre for Biotechnical information) and they found that the "Vagus nerve represents the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system; which oversees a vast array of crucial bodily functions, including control of mood, immune response, digestion and heart rate. It establishes one of the connections between the brain and the gastrointestinal tract. It sends information about the state of inner organs to the brain."

The Oculocardiac Reflex

Stimulating the vagus nerve, the light pressure on the eyes triggers a reflex that lowers your heart rate and regulate you mood. This reflex puts your body and mind at rest and allows you to enjoy your deepest nights sleep.
