Shinrin Yoku Day Retreat
Time & Location
About The Event
Escape for the day and experience the uniqueness of Shinrin-Yoku or forest bathing. A gentle, calm amble through the trees and footpaths where you can reap all the benefits from the forest air. Allow yourself this time to escape the hustle, bustle and noisy chatter of your every day life and let the forest to work its magic on you, to de-stress.
This Japanese inspired complementary therapy is not just a simple walk through the forest; it has been proven to have startling health benefits from lowering blood pressure to increasing your T-cells (immune system) Yuku Ideno et al. (A systematic review and meta analysis).
We will be meeting at the High Cross forestry comminsion car park, grisedale forest

This is just a simple overview and does even begin to cover what you will really experience.
You should be aware that this is not a fitness hike, it is a gentle walk of no more than 2 miles and we will mainly be sticking to footpaths and trails. There is no fitness level required, however, this terrain is not suitable for wheelchair users or those of limited mobility. The yoga will consist of a simple flow that is suitable for a novice.
The day starts at 10:30am, I strongly advise arrival no later than 10:15am. The car park is free, but spaces are limited. Their is a pay and display in Tarn Hows (free to National Trust members) but remember to allow enough time to walk to the High Cross or if you want a more challenging walk I suggest you either park in the Pay and Display at Monk Coniston and walk up via the footpath and through Tarn Hows (more information) this is done entirely at your own discretion and I will not be held responsible for your arrival.
You will need to bring lunch, snacks and plenty of drinks for the day as there will be no shops on our route. Shops are in either Coniston or Hawshead - please note being a Sunday limited shops are open.
Wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket for the weather.
